Paul Rand Tribute Video
Excellent video here, featuring designer Paul Rand speaking about art, design, and why we connect with them. Hat tip to John Gruber (Daring Fireball).
I love quotations (such as the ones I’ve chosen to randomly appear in the footers of the pages throughout my site). They take an often universal human experience and distill it into a little nugget of wisdom we can relate to. Even if we disagree with the particular sentiment, we have to admit that the issue has been well considered. This video is like a quotation on steroids.
My favorite lines: “A work of art is realized when form and content are indistinguishable. When form predominates, meaning is blunted; but when content predominates, interest flags. But the genius comes in when both of these things fuse.” Gives me goose-bumps.
