That’s awesome, Dad. Go for it! I look forward to hearing how it goes for you. I’m looking forward to playing in much more casual contexts from here on out. I’m not sure what I’d do without the power stop. How does that work with inline roller skates? Heart, lungs, legs—you have to bring it all.

Hey Trace – I remember those days. It is interesting how we both excelled in a sport not traditionally a southern institution. You may think me crazy, but Janiece and I have been stopping by a local outdoor inline rink to watch the games and practices. While doing that, I have been toying with the idea of trying out next season. I know, 67 may not be the time to even think about this, but it really excites me with the notion I could do it. Thank you for opening your heart. – I love you!

ps – you mentioned “heart and lungs” but what about the legs?

Trace, what an awesome story you have. I vaguely remember you playing in your youth. I never got into sports … your grandpa never watched any or took me to any games. I applaud your pursuit of something you were so passionate about as you were going into your forties. I wish now that I’d gotten to see you play. I wish you the best in your future endeavors. It’s not retirement, as you put it just time to cross that off the list and on to something else….. retirement has a finality connotation to it but that is not the case. I read somewhere once that the Chinese don’t even have such a word, I think we should not also. Here’s to something else. Cheers.
